Responsibilities
To implement TransLink?s sustainability policy and facilitate achievement of related goals across the enterprise. Acts as champion of sustainability by promoting, advising, and educating leaders and staff. Provides compliance oversight on sustainability, and acts as key liaison to the Board Governance Committee and TransLink Executive on program status.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Champions TransLink?s sustainability commitment, policy and strategy, and manages related change with business leaders across the enterprise by promoting, advising, educating, facilitating, coordinating and acting as subject matter expert on this topic and all related activities.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders to plan a systematic, ?embedded? approach to developing, implementing and managing enterprise-wide sustainable management programs and systems.
  • Develops sustainability framework, methodologies, tools, processes and procedures, and facilitates implementation through business leaders across the enterprise.
  • Provides and monitors sustainability program indicators, and facilitates audits for all areas across the enterprise. Liaises with business leaders on progress and provides advice to foster progressive achievement of sustainability goals. Alerts VP to policy alignment issues, and recommends corrective action.
  • Acts as key sustainability resource to the Board Governance Committee and TransLink Executive by providing subject matter expertise, delivering status reports on program achievements and policy alignment issues, and creating awareness of critical issues.
  • Provides input on risk management related to sustainability issues.
  • Manages sustainability data collection and analysis, as well as the development of internal reports to address TransLink Board and Executive requirements, and also external reports.
  • Acts as key TransLink representative when liaising externally with sustainability-related committees, groups and stakeholders in the transportation industry and with other organizations for the purpose of extracting best practice and influencing progress in sustainability activities.
  • Engages and oversees the work of external consultants as required.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
The requirements for this job are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in a business discipline, and six years of business experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of the values, principles, practices, methods and techniques pertaining to sustainability.
  • Solid business acumen with emphasis on business strategy, policy development, organization culture, change management, business politics, and innovation.
  • Solid understanding of Translink?s strategic and operational priorities, including the policies, climate and culture that govern the organization?s political structure.
  • Solid leadership skills with ability to provide specialized guidance and expertise to all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized expertise, advice, guidance and influence to all levels of the organization, including Board Committee and Executive levels.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to address issues of a sensitive nature.

Please note: effective April 2013, TransLink MetroTown Tower II offices will be relocating to their new Sapperton/New Westminster location.

Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
